We
are a unified group of dog owners, dog lovers, dog trainers,
advocates and concerned
citizens educating the public and public officials on the
societal impacts of companion animal legislation. Our main
goal is to be a resource for local and state governments
and the public at-large regarding
effective, equitable and non-discriminatory companion animal
legislation.
At this time, the most notable issue of focus
is breed-specific legislation. In particular, Canine
Advocates of Ohio opposes all forms of breed-specific
legislation and actively reaches out to educate local city
council members, local authorities and Ohio representatives
regarding the truth about targeting specific breeds of dogs.
CAO provides packages of information, including studies,
statistics, and other helpful information regarding
breed-specific legislation to authorities charged with
deciding the appropriate method of
dealing with dangerous
dogs.
Canine Advocates of Ohio
is an all volunteer advocacy group. CAO depends on the
generous donations of its members and the public at-large to
help defray the costs associated with printing, compiling
and obtaining necessary educational information and shipping
charges for the packages.
